I just bought 2 of those, both have the ELG proof mark without the crown, so pre 1893 with fluted cylinders and 44. mark on the gun.
On one of them the cylinder has been honed to accept shortened 44 Russian brass and the seller told me to shoot 44 Russian bullets (.429 dia).
They both have the same bore diameter of .407 and another member here warned me to use 44 Russian bullets. .442 Webley which is common among those Belgian guns doesn't cut it either since they obviously measure .442.
Oh yes, the rifling is not very strong, not like the Webleys.
