CMJ.

I getting away from lead.

Lead is just that but too soft.

Cast is how they are made. There is also swagged, which is drawn lead wire compressed in a die.

Hard cast is the hardness of the lead mix. adding antimony and tin helps in this area.

CMJ - I prefer to avoid airborn lead particles when I can. Cost between CMJ and FMJ is a couple of bucks per thousand.

Thanks RePete - I've been wondering what swagged meant.

Started off with Lead but I did not like that because they are horrible to work with and way to soft.

Went to FMJ but they were really expensive.
Order some Frontiers from Higginsons and I have not looked back.'

I prefer shooting 124's, 115s are VERY snappy to me.

Is airborne lead really an issue when shooting out doors?
Not as much as shooting indoors abut I'd say yes! If you can smell the powder you can breathe the lead....

By the way what is the differance between FMJ and Copper Plated?
FMJ they make the copperjacket first and than pour the lead into it, so the base of the bullet hs an ecxposed lead base.

copper plated it a lead bullet that is plated with copper jacket (thinner than FMJ) but there is no exposed lead.
