What cal. would you take??

If you set the two out for me, in identical guns, I'd look long and hard at the fancy new WSM, realizing, it was certainly capable of anything I wanted to shoot. Then I'd consider it's availaility, the cost of ammo, and throw those out, because I reload anyway. Then I'd select the tried and true 300WM why? Because it has a bigger hole in the end of the barrel, and I can load it down if I'm concerned about too much gun..

choice

If you can handle a 300WM's recoil, then it is a better big game cal. with the heavy bullet selection, I own a 270WSM and it can take elk with premium bullets and most people should be able to shoot one better due to alot less recoil.

I personally would'nt take a 7mm-08 Elk hunting but to each their own.

What?

Sorry wrong thread.

Is this 06 vs 270 or a Bear defence thread?

Jeez Ike, keep up will ya

Clearly this is the 270wsm vs 300wm thread.

Now to the question at hand stick with the numbers man, always the numbers. You see:

2 plus 7 plus 0 equals 9

3 plus 0 plus 0 equals 3

You can put all the wsm wm wmsmsm (sounds like dial a date choices doesn't it):D Actually I wouldn't know but I do get the spam  For real..

So obviously you need the 300wm. No it doesn't score as high but it has less letters. That's important some times. :)

decisions

If it were me, I'd go with the 300 Win. It's a go anywhere cartridge. Load it down for deer and load it up for Elk, Moose and Bear. The bonus is, ammo is available at Canadian Tire, reasonably priced. That will make up for the extra puchase price. Remember, it's just like a powerful engine in your car or truck; you don't run it full throttle all the time. :)

Thanks for the advice guys but Ive decided to go with a gun that will launch
.284 kill pills, one of the CGN dealers has located one for me at a smokin price:D :D

Cheers!!

Echoing TB, he already bought the best cartridge known in the history of the N.A. hunter.;)

I have a 300 Win Mag and reload my own bullets. Can shoot mag loads on long shots, reload down to .308 Winchester for deer. Almost no recoil and bang on accurate at 100 yards. If you don't reload, then maybe the 300 mag is a bit of overkill.
