What caliber of rifle would you take

This year one is going to fall to a 7.62 X 54R 174 Grain HPBT from a M44! Don't care whats best, it's what I'm going to use!

Where I hunt my moose and elk there is a fair chance of encountering a grizzly.I use a 300ultramag shooting the 180gr tsx at 3380fps and I have complete confidence that it will stop a grizzly if need be.

Where I go there are lots of grizz as well so my .338 Win Mag comes with!!

Looks like I'm #8 for picking the .35 Whelen. I'd take my Remington M700 .35 Whelen topped with it's Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5 and firing it's pet load of 250 grain Hornadys launched by 59.5 grains of Reloder 15. It's a good hammer, accurate, and very familiar to me and reasonable in weight. What's not to like?

Someday my kids will have to pry my Whelen from my fingers when I'm dead. Actually, I hope they literally have to do that when I die from a heart attack when I'm in my 80s or 90s after successfully stopping a bear charge, swaggering, and shouting "Hail to the King, Baby!"

My choice .338 Winchester mag and 225 grain Nosler Partition's....

My 300 WSM with 180 grn Grand Slams should do the trick. I personally wouldn't settle for anything less than a 7mm mangum class and a 160 grn well constructed bullet.

My new Sako Finnlight in 338/08 with 185 grain Barnes TSX's. Its my only hunting rifle so it gets to do everything from deer to grizz.

I take my moose gun, a 300 Winchester magnum on an Enfield action loaded with 180 gr. Nosler partitions.

I have some .338 cal 225 grain Woodleigh PP's... SD 0.281, BC 0.425 recommended impact velocity of 1900-2900 fps... should be just the ticket for Moose/Grizzly.
