Poll sucks. NOT WRITTEN CORRECTLY!!
You have asked for calibre ownership and then listed chamberings!!! You do know the difference, right? Seriously, think it through before you put it out there. Calbre is actually a measurement of bore diameter.
.30-06, .308, .300 Win Mag are the same calibre: .30
Also the .22LR and the .223 are the same calibre: .22 (one uses a .223” diameter bullet and the other a .224”)
So poll should more appropriately read,
What chamber of hunting rifles do you own from these 7 calibres?
.30
.22
7mm
.338
.45
.270
.311 (since .303 is not a standard US/Canadian calibre,)
If that's the poll, then it would be .30-06, .308, .303Br, .303BrAI, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x54R, .22LR
POLL FAIL!!
Technically you are correct.
However by convention, Calibre is used interchangeably with chambering.
See the gun stores above. They all list the chambering of their rifles as Calibre.
Caliber is used interchangeably with chambering,by those people that don't know the difference.Unfortunately, that includes many people that work in gun stores,or even for some manufacturers.Good help is often hard to find.![]()
You are probably the only one in the entire industry that uses the correct term. Good for you!
Actually, there are plenty of forum members that choose to use the correct terminology.

x2.How some people cant understand the difference between a cartridge\chambering& caliber & how the same caliber can consist of many different cartridge's is beyond me.

Does that make it right? No. There is no reason to call something it isn't. Is a magazine a clip? NOPE!! However, I believe that there may be a post or two here on CGN with exactly that same beef even though the "industry" calls them clips. If I called my 100ATR a target rifle simply because I use it to shoot at targets on the range, I am sure, kind Sir, that you would take exception. Perhaps, that is what Mossberg should start doing, Would that make you a happy camper? Probably not, so why allow such flagrant misuse when you have the power to correct it one post at a time?Even the Remington website (www.remington.com) ,the Browning website, the Winchester website, the Beretta website, and the Savage website lists their rifle chambering as CALIBER. Ignorant bastards!
You are probably the only one in the entire industry that uses the correct term. Good for you!
