.22 Hi-Power

add 222, 30-30, 300 wby, 30-378 wby, 22 hi power, 32 rimfire, 22 mag

dang, almost forgot the 25-06.

Do you still use your Hi-Power? Years ago I had 2 savage M99's. One was a short barreled take-down carbine and 1 was a rifle. I used to really hit the local groundhogs hard with them. I reloaded for them and used cast lead bullets too.
Have you experienced the "tracer" effect some bullets have with the Hi-Power? The Dominion brand 70 gr bullets had a lot of lead exposed and it would burn up at higher velocities.
I carried one of them on a deer hunt in the 60's but didn't get a shot.

My dedicated hunting rifle is a .300 win mag, but I have other rifles I can hunt with in .308 and 7.62x39. Also have a .30-06, but I am selling it.

The deer camp that I go to has 6 out of 10 hunters who hunt with mini 30 chambered in 7.62x39 and I think that number is going up because it seems to be a great gun for harvesting deer in central ontario thick bush.

why does 7mm mag have such a low vote :slap:

I'm totally surprised by that. The 30-06 and 308 are right where I would expect but I thought the 7mm mag would be at least over half their numbers. It would be interesting to know how many of those 7mm mag owners also clicked on 3006 and 308.

I also figured the 300 mag would have a higher score than it does.

This poll is more interesting than I originally thought.

Lets see, what do I have these days for hunting rifles:

- .22 LR
- .223 Rem
- .22-250 Rem
- .243 Win
- .260 Rem
- 6.5x55 Swed
- 7 SAUM
- .30-30 Win
- .35 Whelen
- .444 Marlin

I own everything on the list except a 300 mag which I did own at one time, still have dies and brass and will probably own another one day.

All I ever needed for hunting is my first big game rifle, a 270 win. It has always done everything I needed of it and then some. I would be quite content to use it and nothing else for the rest of my life.
