What Can A 223 Be Rebareled To/Rechambered For?

anything that has a .378" casehead......222, 222 Mag, 223AI, 204 Ruger, 17 Rem and 17 Fireball....221 Fireball.....etc.
There are 6mm and 25 cal wilcats on the 223 and 222 Mag cases too...lots of choices.

I have a 221 fireball incoming, and really looking forward to it. .223 cut down by about 1/3 but only about 10-15% loss of performance. No recoil to speak of, quiet (ok, relatively), doesn't heat up quickly, 40gr pill @ 3600+ http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...g=content;col1. Supposedly a great varminter out to 3-400, and inherently accurate.

I just finished a 221 Fireball build and am loving it so far. However it is more of a 200-300 yd cartridge. If you look at the ballistics of the lightweight bullets, the velocity drops off at an alarming rate.

Yes Matthew, the 300 Whisper is a fun cartridge too. :)

You have to be really careful with the new A-bolts when rebarreling. Apparently (this is second hand knowledge, but from a reputable source) when the barrel is removed the threading from the reciever also comes out. Now you have a barrel and an action that both need to be threaded........

I reccomend that you have a competent smith do any of the rebarreling with your rifle.

Cheers!
