I am wondering what the highest ballistic coefficient bullet could be stabilized by a walther 1-8 223 barrel? Also are these good barrels it is for a savage 12 in 223?
Should be fine with bullets to 80gr.
No reason it could not be installed on a Savage - or any other rifle.
Going to have to be threaded, chambered, fitted, contoured, if you are thinking about the blanks Dlask is selling.
that barrel will stabilize up to 80 gr. bergers, amax, JLK, sierras. not a bad way to go, but why not go 1-7" and be able to shoot those, plus the 90 berger?
1-8" won't stabilize the 90's. Those are good barrels. I have a 1-8" installed by Gord, and it shoots very well. The other option would be one of Mystic's prefit Shilens. He can walk you through the installation yourself for teh savage. A 1-7" medium palma @30" would help the 90's make my .308 look pretty foolish...
I chambered one of Walther 1-8" twist barrels from Dlask in a 22/250 AI. Very pleased with the accuracy and velocity of Sierra 80gr MK and Lapua 77gr bullets @3400fps.
Berger 90gr VLD won't stabilize enough for decent accuracy. If your wanting to use the 90gr bullets use the 1-7" twist barrels available from Dlask.
