For some years now I have had good results using IMR 4350 to reload my .270 win with 130 grain bullets. My usual LGS in Edmonton told me they don't have it and they don't know when they will get more. I am unable to order powder online (as far as I know) because Canpar does not deliver to my rural area in northern Alberta. I am prepared to spend a day going from store to store on my next trip to Edmonton to find a suitable powder, but I would welcome any suggestions on which powder to purchase if IMR 4350 is not available.

Enduron 4451 I have found to be right between the 4350 powders for burn rate, might be another option for you.
Are you close to Grande Prairie ?? I have a couple pounds of the stuff, if you need a loner to keep shooting ? Also have a pound or 2 of IMR 4350 if your in a bind.

I get all my powder from them, their price per lb might be higher, but cheap efficient shipping, and top notch service more than makes up the cost difference.

I try not to wait until I am out before I order more, and if they don't have what I need when I order, they either e-mail or call me when they get a new shipment. Hasn't failed me yet.

Another vote for H4350. It is one of my favorites for the .30-06 and I am sure that it will do the trick for you. Better temperature stability than IMR 4350 too.

Who do they ship through? Can't use Canada Post for powder or primers. I have to pick stuff up in Edmonton if it's Canpar.

H4831 is slower burning than 4350 but gives very good results in the .270, as does RL 22, but it seems to be a scarce commodity. W760/H414, H4350 and RL19 have similar burn rates but the data is not interchangeable.

H4831 is a better powder for 130 grain bullets in a 270, than 4350 is.
Before Hodgdon's even had a name for this type surplus powder, they called it "4350 data powder," because they hadn't tested it yet, but knew you could use the same loading as for 4350 and have a safe load.
Then Jack O'Connor wrote in Outdoor Life that 60 grains of it worked perfect in a 270, with 130 grain bullets. Most hand loaders of the day followed O'Connor and that loading took off and never looked back.
When Hodgdon named the powder H4831, and properly tested it, they just took Jack's figures and printed it for the 270, because it was already so widely used.

RL22 is the same powder as Norma 205/MRP. When Norma powders were plentiful on the market, many of us used Norma 205 in the same amounts as H4831. It gave a bit higher velocity than H4831, but the main advantage was it was denser and 60 grains would be about the bottom of the neck of a 270 case, while the old surplus h4831 would completely fill the case.
As a point of interest, 9.3mauser, your Model 725 shot 60 grains of Norma 205 just fine!

We have my weight in IMR 4350 in stock right now (don't ask how much I weigh, it's rude). Also, we ship powder through UPS and carry over the good rate we get with them to our customers.
