Just out of curiousity: what can you do to the refurbished sks with all the metal painted black?

I aware that you can polish the bolt carrier but what about the barrel and the action itself?

I noticed on some pics other posted not all refurbished are created equal some looks pretty bad, is there any cure to the metal on those rifles?

I have one I like the paint on it, that is some tough paint.

my CZ858 are covered with tuff paint also , but im not fond of bluish color so yes, i do like the black paint . on another thread a member stripped the carrier and it looks much better .

The only parts that really bother me are the bolt and bolt carrier. The black comes off easily with brake fluid and a wire brush on a drill.

The rest of the gun looks ok to me.

Yup,..the bolt carrier needs a cleaning for sure!Just debating on stripping a complete rifle and bluing it as it was orginally...and shooting the crap out of it!

I wonder how much work it would be to strip all the metal. Personnally, I won't spend that much time on my ugly SKS. I do have a nicer one, so maybe that's why. On my ugly one, I just cleaned everything, and re-shellac'ed the stock, it doesn't look too too bad now. But boy was it a mess when it got here.
