What cartridge in a Sharps

Had Pedersoli and Shilo Sharps as well as a rolling block in 45-70 and 45-90 but gave up on them after the recoiling tang sight scratched 4 pairs of safety glasses and the recoil took the fun out of an afternoon of shooting. This wimp now enjoys shooting out to 500 yd with a re-barrelled 1885 Hi Wall 38-55 with a custom 312 gr cast RN bullet from a Boomer's mold. And the best part is that I can shoot that combination comfortably all day long, nude or otherwise.....

Hey O'l Flinter, instead of selling off the .45's why didn't you try putting on a slip on recoil pad like a limbsaver etc for the bench and slip it off for offhand? The LOP is only about an inch and the extra length may of saved your glasses:). The Win 38-55 is a classic for sure, I may have room for one more Shiloh, probably in 40-50 straight, why, because why not:p

Well I have 3 from the estate I am going to sell. 40-70,45-70,45-120. I would not mind if they all stayed here, but can't own it all at once :). When I get models IDs I will put them up. Thanks for all help and ideas. AJ

Laugh2 My wife shoots a 38-55 , But she also shoots my 45-90 Laugh2:stirthepot2:

I have to call you. Lots on the go here.

All Shiloh

All the better! :). The .45-70 is never a bad choice, but the .40-70 would be cool. I don't have one of those. The only thing that stopped me from ordering one is that the brass is a little trickier to get, although Prophet River will import as much as you want for $50 so that's not a really big problem I guess.

Chris.
