What case do you use for your AR?

Assuming my new one comes in a cardboard box, not a case, whenever it gets here.

Storage regs being what they are, I could really use a case for it.

Just curious as to what other people have for AR cases that they're happy with (and possibly where they got them too).

Cheers!

I use a really tall hard case for mine. With the pistol grip on the bottom and a tall scope with target turrets on the top, it's hard to fit it into a regular case. Depending on your setup you may not have the same problems.

Well, the rifle is 84cm with the stock collapsed I think. For optics, eotech and magnifier, maybe an acog one day. Shouldn't require anything too out of the ordinary, I'd just like something nicer than the usual cheap plastic cases I have.

are you looking for storage or transport? For storage? a locking metal gun cabinet with a trigger lock on the gun. For transport? An uncle mikes tactical case which is padlockable (I am selling a couple by the way), with a trigger lock on the gun.

Just need a basic case for storage and transport, something padlockable that will keep me legal in conjunction with a trigger lock, and provide my rifle with some basic protection.

I'd like to get a safe at some point, but for now, I don't really have room for it.

Might be interested in the Uncle Mike's Tac Case, but can't do pickup. What price could you do me for one shipped to NS?

personally i absolutely love pelican storm cases. iM3100 to iM3300, all awesome. cost a bit, but like you, i use the case for storage AND transport, so thought it worth the investment.

Case for scoped AR

Crappy Tire sells a Flambeau- brand rigid plastic case for about $59. It has plenty of room and comes with a cloth gun sock as well. It is lockable and the best part is it comes on sale about twice a year for $29!

I just used one of those cheesy deers and trees plastic cases from the hunting department. If the rifle can be damaged by just sitting in the back of the car, it is not worthy to get into my safe.

Last year CTC here in Mississauga had big ###lord box of Flambeau
plastic cases at a blow out price of $9.99 and I grabbed 3 of them.
Big enough to carry my M14 with scope, bipod and a bunch of mags.

Situation drives but usually this set up:
5.11 in a Starlight case.

I prefer to keep it light and simple.

A safe for storage, but for transport a Pelican 1700 which holds rifle, optic, pistol, magazines, spotting scope, etc.

Not light and not cheap, but it keeps all gear together & protected, can be used as checked luggage if necessary. Four latches plus built in fittings for two padlocks, waterproof and has wheels to roll it on hard surfaces.

At the last course I attended we were out in rain & drizzle all day, a similar (1720) case kept everything dry.

If you have a fixed set of gear you can cut the foam to fit, but you can also just remove one layer of foam and arrange different sets of gear in the case as required.

Goggle "custom case company" (in Ottawa) for specs & prices.

For transport I use a soft lockable rifle case from voodoo.
for storage its my gun cabinet
