What causes this malfunction? Failure to eject. Pictures

If you are looking for H2 buffer, I think brownell has colt carbine H2 buffer in stock for a great price. The spike tactical st t2 is only around 4oz instead of the H2's 4.6oz and is more expensive. I couldn't find any in stock H or H2 buffer in canada, and the spike one sells for a bit more in canada than brownells.

Before doing the buffer swap I would do as others have suggested and go to upgraded extractor and ejector springs. Check your gas rings too. I would also remove the front sight base and use some verniers to check your gas port diameter. This is important to know.

My 10.5" LMT was 0.071" with a carbine buffer which is crane spec and it wouldn't cycle reliably except with hot 5.56 ammo. I ended up opening the gas port and now it runs great. I use a 9mm buffer and it shoots great now. I'm still curious about you switching BCGs. The original BCG wouldn't completely go into battery? Did you try it without the bolt installed? This would show if it was a bolt/barrel extension problem or a gas key/gas tube problem.

Also replacing the bolt can affect the headspace but I'm not entirely sure that a headspace issue combined with the short dwell time of a 10.5" AR could cause or compound extraction issues.

Anyways, I still think you should upgrade your extractor and ejector, and see if that helps. If not I would definitely check your gas port size. You need to know if you're under gassed or over gassed. Throwing money at buffers and buffer springs won't help until you've eliminated other things first.

So with the new BCG there is no binding whatsoever when cycling the action by hand? That eliminates that possibility. I'm in Edmonton, we could meet at genesee one day and I'll bring all my AR tools if you like.

Pretty sure my cq-a is doing this as well. Should i upgrade the ejector and extractor springs?

As has been said a few times in this thread already, you need to know if your malfunction is being caused by under or overgassing. MOST Norincos (and the short ones in particular) tend to be overgassed, but every AR is a unique and beautiful snowflake. The ways to test for gas levels are to check for proper function or short stroking with low-powered ammunition, and examination of the brass for particular wear to the case rim. Or disassemble and check gas port diameters, but that's much more involved.

That said, there are really no disadvantages to installing a heavy extractor spring (and possibly an o-ring). Your ejector spring is probably fine, but it's easy to verify by hand cycling empty brass: If it flies at least a few feet, you're good to go.

OP I was having similar issues with my 10.5" franken sbr.

I noticed that the factory bolt would not propery extract rounds from the chamber every time. Though when I swapped my bolts with my Colt in the different rifles both performed as should.
I took it apart and the extractor was tooled slightly differently than the Colt one. I replaced that part with a spare Colt and it now extracts properly when using dummy rounds etc. I also have an adjustable gas block on its way. If it gets here by Friday next week I'll let you know how things work at the range.

Update:
Tried a complete Colt BCG and it works fine. I am going to get a new, hopefully Colt, extractor and spring for the BCG thats in it now. I'm also going to compare weights of the Colt and aftermarket BCG. I can't remember the brand but it was something decent.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I shot a Norinco AR at the range once. The guy had so many stoppages that he put it back in the car due to frustration. I let him try my magazines which had never failed me. The only times my rifle has malfunctioned was because i failed to seat the magazine properly. After almost an hour of screwing around and trying to diagnose his rifle the only thing we concluded was it was his rifle an not the magazines that he was using. He ended up shooting the rest of his ammo through my carbine.

Another Norinco my friend owns, which i haven't shot, has the same issues. I'll never buy Norinco. Save your money and buy something quality. Buy once, cry once.

The $12 extractor spring kit with donut o-ring worked great. Ran a hundred rounds through it with no malfunctions.

Thanks again for the help!
