I guess this is that time of the year when I think about getting myself dedicated bullseye centerfire pistol. My 1911 in 45ACP could not keep up shoulder-to shoulder with pardini's/walthers etc in 32S&W. I know if I get decent pistol it will not make me shoot better. But still. Should I roll up my sleeves and get into slide compressing/fitting/lapping game? Or should I just buy real target pistol? I like monstrous large 0.45" holes in my tagets. But I like new toys too. But they are expensive, those new toys. I guess none of you will part with your morini in 32 s&w for 1000$?

I read your posting, and thought of myself. Like you I enjoy shooting 1911 45, but decided to take the plunge into shooting a dedicated BE pistol. I have owned a Walther GSP 32S&WL, and a Pardini SP in 22lr. Both were great but I opted to purchase a Colt NM in 38 Spl, its great NRA shooting and ISSF/ISU CF as well.
The trouble with many 32S&WL pistol is they are not terribly accurate out to 50yards, but amazing at 25m. The 38Special seems well suited for all distances with the right load.
In regards to someone selling a Morini for $1000, I don't think you will find one, as from what I can tell they are not allowed to be imported into Canada (perhaps as a 12.6). Its not listed on the 32S&WL exemption list for target shooting. Neither are the Matchguns MG4 , Tesro 32, One of the Benneli's.
While I own a Colt NM in 38spl, I have opted to sell it because I am going to focus on free pistol and air pistol. Hammerli-Sig made a nice 38spl BE pistol, and there is the classic S&W 52. A Clark 1911 in 38spl is a wonderful pistol if you have the money. For a 1000$ a S&W 52 is likely your best bet with an anatomical grip or a GSP with a faster twist barrel for 50 yard shooting. IF you can shoot your 45 1911 well then look for a Clark or a Colt NM (or Giles 1911)

22lr.....can't but help notice your post. You might try a S&W Model 14, no dash or whatever. If you like big holes, get a new Model 24 or older 624 S&W. And although I hesistate to promote due to lack of factory support, an older Colt .38 Special Officer's Model/Diamondback/Trooper, would probably win you a few matches too.
I have an older Colt Model 3-5-7, and it's a stellar shooting revolver. But I baby it, and it only is used with 38 WC target loads at the range.

I keep hearing the .32 s@w will not shoot at 50 yards unless you fit a fast twist barrel to them. My old Walther GSP with a standard barrel loaded with Speer.s 98 grain wadcutter and 1.5 grains of Winchester Super Target just shot an 1 1/2 inch ten shoot group at 50 yards off the bench.If you want to shoot a .38 just get a S@W k38 and learn to shoot it. Ray.
