Im thinking about buying a tactical shotgun. Im looking for something semi auto and won't break the bank. I love the m4 but the price is a bit crazy. I dont know much about the mossbergs..let me know my options..thanks guys!

Or the long proven Remington 1100 and 11-87. The former is meant mostly for sporting use, while the latter can apparently handle a heavy diet of magnum loads since it's got an adjustable gas system. The upside to those is that:
- tons of accessories made for them
- many more accessories and parts made for the 870 pump gun also fit the 1100 and 11-87
- lots of reference materials about how to fix modify and tweek these

Downside compared to newer designs:
- requires regular cleaning to keep reliable
- need to keep a couple of spare O-rings on hand (Viton 21's I think), but they do last a long time
- 1100 does not adjust gas for heavy loads...so the action cycles violently if using magnums
- 11-87 has a manual gas adjustment...unlike today's modern semis that do this automatically for you, either by way of spring loaded gas valves, or gas ports that are covered by longer shells

But...these are reliable, proven over many decades, will last a long time, and an 1100 can be had used sometimes for under $600 Canadian.

I've had all 3 semi's at one point - 930, VMT and M4. All are great guns.

But I really like the Versa Max. Out of the box, it's ready to go. Already comes with an extension tube, just need to dremel out the washer and plug it.
