What choke for trap?

I started out with a full choke in my Rem 870 for 16 yard trap. Eventually I noticed I was getting on the birds faster, so I screwed in a mod choke and my scores went up. Then an Ithaca 37 with a fixed full choke fell into my lap, so I took it for a test drive. To my surprise, my scores instantly jumped again! The Ithaca is now my trap gun.

In my still short recreational 16 yard trap career, I've concluded that gun fit, good instruction and practice are far more important that fretting about mod vs. imp. mod vs. full.

The choking works out the same on all my Krieghoffs, IM for singles, full from the 27yd. line and mod./IM for doubles, though I'm still sorting it out on my newest Krieghoff, but it's more of a POI thing.

To prove a point I shot 7/8 of an ounce through a skeet choke from the27 yrd line. I was told it was impossible to break anything. I broke 15. Not a clean round, wouldnt normally win anything, but I won some shutupedness from a blow hard.
I shoot my best trap with light mod. I think mostly because I believe it works.

Whoa! Not really a good argument there:D A 15/25 for a trap shooter is like worst day ever:mad: or I hope no one recognizes me:redface: In a game that demands perfection a 15/25 only suggests that a skeet choke and 7/8 oz. shot really does not work that well for 27 yard trap:D

Full Choke for smoke
trap is a game that i use to make me a better hunter

if your just interested in a high score then shoot anything up to a mod but be for warned that there isnt any satisfaction in just chipping birds all day
