Have 870 with 28" barrel I'm looking to shoot 50 yards with 3" double 00 buck and get more than one or two pellets in a 5" target? 12 gauge

I'm not sure that the level of performance that you are looking for is achievable with any choke. 50 yards is a long way to keep such a tight pattern (5"). I would suspect mod or full will give you the best results, but I wouldn't expect to have any more than a couple pellets on a 5" target. In hunting terms, putting a couple .30 cal pellets through an animals vitals, is adequate for a kill. 1 slug works even better though.

I agree with you Scamanic, except there are some limitations here in BC where the discharge of a single projectile is prohibited in a game season.
I would suggest the OP head out with some cardboard and a couple boxes of shells a test his choke and ammo combo out.
From 25 yrds 30-40 and right out to 50 yrds.
One guys results in Eastern Ontario maynot be the same here in BC, you know different gun and ammo selection and maybe a few other variables.
Each gun/choke and ammo choices will make a difference.

I use a Mod. choke (Rem choke) in my 11-87 and use 000 Buck. I get over 85% average within a 10 inch circle on the bench at 50 yards.......killed lots of deer with it......

Use Federal buckshot with the Flitecontrol wad and the most open choke tube you can get. I found skeet (.005" constriction) to provide substantially better results than improved cylinder (.010" constriction) in my barrel.
