What Chrony?

The Shooting Chronys are built with the same hardware. The pricier ones have options but the "measuring" device is the same. (Made in Canada too)
Get the cheapest one and be done with it.

Hummm, might have to look into upgrading to one of those puppies. Humm, the only downside is not being able to use it on handguns.

...and also it will not allow you to shoot for accuracy over the chrony. Anything attached to the barrel will change the harmonics, you know?

It only changes the point I impact by a couple of inches and does not change the horizontal spread.

You can attach it to hand guns.

And it being a little more expensive than another chrony was worth it working in any weather conditions was worth it to me.

I ordered a F-1 Shooting Chrony and it wouldn't work. The instructions said if there was a problem not to send it back to store, send it to the factory and they would fix it. I sent it to the store and got my money back.

More often than not it's user error. Shooting too high or too low or without screens.
I've had crud on the sensor lenses and I've had unburned powder in the chrony and it still worked.

Mine clocked almost all bullets passing over it. With one exception.
One guy loading 9mm 147gr for IPSC major handed me his 1911 to take some readings. Not one bullet from that pistol registered on the chrony.

My Chrony Beta had some hiccups. It would work fine at the start but after 15rnds or so, it would start acting up and jump from say 1425fps to 3275fps from my 357Mag regularly. Then the odd time I'll get an err1 message as soon as I turn it on. I sent it in to Chrony and they shipped me back a brand new unit. I haven't been to the range yet to see if this one is fine.

I'm getting ERR1 when the adjacent lanes shoot magnum rifles. It has to do with the shock-wave hitting the chrony.
Also, every now and then the screw that holds the front (display end) sensor in position gets loose and then the readings are all over the place. Just make sure it is tight.
I must admit the magneto one has one undeniable advantage: you can't accidentally shoot it.

My shooting chrony beta seems to work well. I like it and it is nice and compact, goes right into my range box. I've measured pellet gun, sks, .308, .22 and .45 acp with it. seems good.

I've got the Shooting Chrony F1 and it works just fine. Be sure to read the instructions as the distance you should be from the chrony depends on the caliber. I was too close with my 22, moved back a couple feet and all was well. I am sure a lot of these errors stem from incorrect use or simply not reading instructions.

My shooting chrony works fine.. Bit of a pain to use inside but I just use 2 led strips to brighten it up.. The elephant pictures kinda weird me out but it seems to work fine

I have the Master Beta... heh. Sorry, the Beta Master and it works great indoors and out. In my opinion the corded / extension control unit on the masters is a necessity. Makes reading much easier. Maybe I am just lazy, but not having to move an inch to see the results is worth it.

Edit: Just to add, I ordered straight from the company in Mississauga. Not much more expensive than ordering from Le Barons or elsewhere and they actually had stock and shipped same day.

Pro Chrono Digital from Competition Electronics.....
I've researched the hell out of this and after reading reviews on various sites, the Shooting Chrony's are prone to error's and are light sensitive, as some of the responders to this thread have admitted. I DO NOT OWN a Chrony so you can take this for what it is...when I'm ready to purchase my first chrony, it's gonna be a Pro Chrono Digital...the price point is almost the same....my $.02
