Maybe I'm not too hard done by, I just purchased a brand new Coonan for my self. Had one years ago and it was an amazing pistol, hope this one is as good.
Mad_Mikee;
As far as space to have a lathe I just built myself a 50X100, 5000 sq ft shop with an 18' ceiling........my toy box, which will include a 16X24 ft gunsmithing shop including a complete barrel making set-up (yes this means drilling, reaming and rifling blanks) and bluing tanks..........a welding bay with 2-Migs, Tig, plasma cutter, 500 amp stick machine and torches. Yes I know how to use them all I've been welding since my teens.........complete automotive bay to work on my other toys including a 12000 lb Bradbury hoist and overhead crane.......and a complete woodworking shop with 14" and 10" table saws, thickness planers X 2, scroll saw, sliding 10" mitre saw, wood lathe and a bunch of hand tools for wood working (most of this wood stuff was my father's) and yes I know how to operate all of them as well and have built several sets of cabinets over the years one of which was solid mahogany in my old gun room. New gun room will be walnut cabinets, already have all the wood purchased and on hand.
Have to frame in my gun butcher shop yet inside the big box and then work on the layout for the 2 or maybe 3 lathes, milling machine, barrel drilling and reaming machine and the button machine, as well as benches, grinder, drill press and the other assorted polishing and assundried stuff I'll need. I may even bump the gun shop to 20X24 I haven't decided yet, but it will happen this winter for sure.
My shop has a 200 amp service (no 3 phase unfortunately) and a 40 Kw standby diesel genset with auto start and transfer for the power outages (imagine that, considering that's what I've been doing for a living for the past 40 years)
Despite all my whining, I'll be okay, in the big scheme of things !!!
