What Chya Gett'in For Christmas?

Cabelas had SPS 30-06 700s on for 499. Prophet River had 280ai dies in stock while I was picking up some other presents. There's a Mclennon barrel sitting on the shelf at home, hopefully santa can either run a lathe or has good taste picking out a handle. I would be happy about both.

I may just run off to Calgary and buy myself a new lathe for Chrismas............

Im jelious already...hopefully in my next house I'll have a big enough garage for all the toys and tools.
Right now, I just use the equipment at SAIT which has spoiled me a bit.

I Got myself a Smith & Wesson 100th Anniversary 1911 coming for Christmas.
I also purchased a Dan Wesson Single Stack 40 S&W 1911. It has been in my name for Two Full Weeks.
Now, If I could just convince the seller to ship it. I Might be able to put it under the tree.
Well, as long as the tree is on my Pistol Cabinet.

Maybe I'm not too hard done by, I just purchased a brand new Coonan for my self. Had one years ago and it was an amazing pistol, hope this one is as good.

Mad_Mikee;

As far as space to have a lathe I just built myself a 50X100, 5000 sq ft shop with an 18' ceiling........my toy box, which will include a 16X24 ft gunsmithing shop including a complete barrel making set-up (yes this means drilling, reaming and rifling blanks) and bluing tanks..........a welding bay with 2-Migs, Tig, plasma cutter, 500 amp stick machine and torches. Yes I know how to use them all I've been welding since my teens.........complete automotive bay to work on my other toys including a 12000 lb Bradbury hoist and overhead crane.......and a complete woodworking shop with 14" and 10" table saws, thickness planers X 2, scroll saw, sliding 10" mitre saw, wood lathe and a bunch of hand tools for wood working (most of this wood stuff was my father's) and yes I know how to operate all of them as well and have built several sets of cabinets over the years one of which was solid mahogany in my old gun room. New gun room will be walnut cabinets, already have all the wood purchased and on hand.
Have to frame in my gun butcher shop yet inside the big box and then work on the layout for the 2 or maybe 3 lathes, milling machine, barrel drilling and reaming machine and the button machine, as well as benches, grinder, drill press and the other assorted polishing and assundried stuff I'll need. I may even bump the gun shop to 20X24 I haven't decided yet, but it will happen this winter for sure.
My shop has a 200 amp service (no 3 phase unfortunately) and a 40 Kw standby diesel genset with auto start and transfer for the power outages (imagine that, considering that's what I've been doing for a living for the past 40 years)

Despite all my whining, I'll be okay, in the big scheme of things !!!

My wife and I bought ourselves a home with large acreage in NW Ontario. So now I can live the dream in my retirement years with excellent hunting and fishing in my back yard or very close at hand. Very pleased to have the wife that I have to go along with this whole scheme, she even bought me an Argo so we can easily access the property on the other side of the river at the new place.
So the pruning out of 28 yrs. of accumulation and the packing has begun, we are up there for early May.

Trued rem 700 and a 1-9 twist shilen for my 280AI build is off to the smith. Add to that a Near alpha hunter one piece mount and the 2.5-10x42 NXS scope I put a deposit on and I think my Christmas is done before it started.

I'll only be getting something that I buy or trade for at the Brandon gun show or at Joe Brook's or Home Hardware or MacDonald's Sporting Goods after the show on the way home on Monday. Santa doesn't come to my house anymore. I guess he is afraid of my dogs or maybe he can't fit down the new 4 inch dia chimney.
