What cleaners do you use for your firearms?

Hi all, new gun owner here. I did some searching and found that Ballistol and Hoppes No. 9 are highly recommended. Do you agree or is there something better to use? I have a Type 81, 590A1, and 870 Wingmaster if that helps narrow things down.

Those are good products to use, when I have a gun stripped down to nothing but bit's and pieces I often use good old varsol and a toothbrush. It's works great.i Also use brake cleaner in a spray can.

I've got a whole bunch of different options on the shelf, but I primarily use g96. Its a CLP product (clean, lubricate, protect) and it doesn't have a strong smell. Hoppes gives my wife a headache, and my office is off the master bedroom so it just makes life easier to use something that doesn't stink as much. Otherwise Hoppes works just fine, as does ballistol.

Just remember you need to lube after using Hoppes. Ballistol is a CLP so it can be used as lube as well as cleaner.

Thanks for the recommendations! I just came back from the local gun store and they also recommended G96 so I picked up a can. It’s a bit more expensive than Ballistol or Hoppes but I’ll definitely give it a try.
