I just finished redoing some fibreglass on an HS stock and it is now time to give it a new finish.
This will be for a long range varmint gun (Rem700 SA heavy bbl) and I am trying to decide on a good color scheme for here in the grasslands/prairies/end of the world. Any recommendations on something decent/interesting ?

Leave it black ?
Brown with tan "grass" prints ?
Black with tan and green and terracotta highlights ?
OD green ?
Tan with green and brown highlights?
DARK navy to match the dark blued/black bbl/action ?

Any input is much appreciated.

Hey Gorky,
Most folks end up with a rifle thats too dark, and it blends in.
A light base color, with dark from a distance spray works great, and leaves large spots . This can be a taped off patern to spray , or over the entire surface.
I really like the matte textured paints at wally world.

black stocks look too boring. like everyone else's rifles on your block

brown with tan grass would be cool, or tan with green grass

here's my Gatehouse painted 25-284

That is the Rem 700 VSF in .223Rem, now with single-shot follower. Before I had the trigger done it was shooting about 1 1/4" @ 100 yards with the Winchester USA 45gr hollowpoint. When I had it out to Genesee, it was hitting the 400m gong with boring regularity...with me on the trigger!
Now that the trigger is done and the stock no longer touches the barrel it should be doing better...but I can't verify that yet.

Dustin, I see you're trying to look smart by taking a pic with your calculus books and engineering clipboard on the floor :p

It's all about the product placement;) Of course you'll also notice that the text looks brand new:redface:
