All in all another excellent hunt with 15 deer for 15 tags.
With myself, my son & daughter counting for 6 of 15 camp deer :)
Down from last years 7 of 14 camp deer for my son & I.
Many sightings & many does & fawns passed up by guys makes for good hunt.

What's a Happy Hunt?

For me a happy hunt is when the participants all come home happy and later can sit around, feet up and reminice about the trip. I have seen so many cases, when the going gets tough, of one person blaming another, for everything from being hungry, to going out on a day when it later poured rain!
To me, getting game comes secondary. Some of the best trips I ever had were times when we came home skunked, but were in spectacular, wilderness mountain country, with first class companions.

I went out yesterday afternoon with hopes of spotting a Deer to fill my tag. I seen 2 grouse. It was a good hunt! Even if I never seen the grouse :)

I like it when I show up and the guys have my quad running and my gear is ready because they know I drove all night just to be there with them.

Consideration for everyone, a helping hand, and a common goal (to have good clean safe fun) is what it means to me.

The more kids we can take out of school for the day (s) and put on the back of the quads, the better. And we all take care of each other. We walk with, tease, feed, and pour hot chocolate for each others kids as we would do our own.

And someday, if we see a big mushroom cloud to the South, well, it means that we get to stay out longer and there are no more bag limits on game.

You get to your spot late because someone screwed up.
You miss an easy shot
You get the truck stuck
Something breaks
You get back to camp mad as hell but someone tells a good joke and you laugh yourself silly and have a beverage to toast a crappy days hunting and all of the crappy days to come. Why are we happy ? Because we are not at work !!!!!!:D

Anything that makes for a good story makes a great hunt.
You know the best ones because they're the stories you're still telling years later, to the same guys who've heard them all before, but you all still love to hear them.
I can't wait until the kids are big enough to start having the experiences some of you guys are...awsome!

Well - Lets see, I won the late night sumo wrestling contest... Also, I became a Dad for the first time... Got the green light to go into the camp for the day, came back at supper, was off to Belleville in a big hurry that night! Cant wait to do as Senior does with the family - yikes, I'll be in my sixties by then...
Oh, I almost forgot, our camp got two bucks and a doe, all early in the first week. We tried our damndest to get one particular buck, he outwitted us on four drives - slipped right through the line. We're going to have to get more strategic.
