Hi Guys

Just a quick question

I am about to do purchase a couple of restricted weapons and am building a new reloading room.

The question is: What constitutes safe and proper storage of weapons - both at home and in transit? -

I am aware of the storage regs and requirements for powders - I'm just trying to work out how far i have to go with regards to home storage / weapons in transit?

it seems that this is the area where problems can occur most with LE and officials.

Thanks for any help

Yeah seriously - The only truly dumb question is the 1 thats assumed but never asked.
I dont ASSUME -as I know the definition of the word

Trigger locks , locked cases, separated components, ----That i know and understand but my question is is that enough to prevent issues..

I understand everyone has to start somewhere but my biggest pet peeve is calling firearms "weapons". A weapon is an instrument designed to inflect damage, a firearm is a mechanical device that accurately projects a metallic mass (or projectile) when functioning properly. Military uses weapons, firearm owners use firearms. Please understand the difference.

My second pet peeve is people calling magazines clips but that's a different discussion.

Yeah you are correct it is - thanks for the link
So building an armourers cage in the toy room and concealed storage trays in the SUV would be over the top?
Strange how there is no requirement for a security system - mandatory in other countries - just curious,,

What other countries? I suspect I'm feeding a troll here but the idea of a security system to protect your security system seems oddly irrational. I would think security systems & gun insurance only serve to take firearms away from the most vulnerable (I'm think US cities like Chicago here).

Thanks East for the link, I always enjoy the refresher!

Oh I do know the difference and having spent a long time in the military and seen active service in many countries (6yrs total in Afg and 5 yrs in Iraq) - we carried weapons and were required to use them if and when deadly force was required / authorised under strict ROE (Rules of Engagement)

My pet peeve is is when people think i'm an idiot and dont know me - Now if they know me and call me an idiot then thats fine

I am British by birth but been here in Canada for over 15 yrs - I still stay in touch with my shooting buddies in UK. For those of them who are still lucky to have an FAC (Firearms Certificate) the hoops that they have to go through are insane...- Background checks, medical reports, house and secure storage inspections (before the license is issued) , security alarms - and as for field or game shooting .......They liken it to the onion skin syndrome for security - multiple layers to make it increasingly difficult to get at - Does it work - guess so

In iraq virtualy every house is allowed 1x AK47 full auto and 3x 30 rnd mags - most are hanging on the back of the bedroom door.

I sold my collection in the UK due to changes in the law and attitudes after the 1st shooting at Hungerford -

A Troll - If by that you mean a bad tempered son of a ##### in the morning before my 1st coffee then thats me.

Tks! but heading back to where im from on the west coast. well maybe...just read on twitter that the ferry im taking on friday ran into the wharf in Port aux basque this morning lol

"...how far I have to go..." Hi. It's never been defined for your home. The just says "hard to break into". The otherside of the coin is not wanting to have your property stolen. Transporting is covered on the CFC's web site and should have been on your courses.
"...mandatory in other countries..." What other countries?

On this site Trolls are often Anti-firearms folks fishing for information from well informed, well meaning firearm users. Ultimately, a troll will spin this knowledge into justification as to why the informed firearms owner should not have his/her firearms.

Sorry for the rough "Welcome" but none the less, Welcome to the site, there are many well informed people here!

Thanks Stormchaser - wasn't sure what the troll thing was reference to..
"Rough welcome" = LOL no dramas mate I'm a big boy and will happily stand my corner - even so far as saying i dont have a clue please enlighten me
If ya dont ask ya never learn..
