I have been looking around for a S&W 27 (in 357Mag) and came across someone that claims to have a 27-6 with a 6" barrel and Hogue grips, no lock, with original box in mint shape... what would a reasonable offer and selling price be?

Any help at all would be great...

I also came across two Colt Diamondback's (one in 22LR the other in 38), and would these be a better choice than the S&W?

I'm looking for a .22, had been thinking S&W. but if you don't want the diamondback and are willing to pass on the contact info...

For the Model 27, I would estimate a value of around $700-800.

Personally, I would choose S&W over Colt. Colt parts can be hard to find and there are few gunsmiths that can work on them. Colts are also more prone to developing timing issues with high round counts.

I very recently bought a 27-6 in excellent condition off the EE here for $650.However,it didnt come with its original box,so I would guess that for that particular 27 that you are looking at a offer of $700 would be reasonable. One thing to remember,is that many people feel that the best model 27s were up to and including 27-2s(pinned and recessed),and after that, although they were still great guns, they werent finished as finely as the older guns. This is subjective, and Im very happy with my 27-6 as a range gun

As regards the Diamondbacks,I would buy them in a heart beat. There are many 27s around, but you hardly see and Dbacks for sale, esp in Canada. Its true that parts are hard to come by,and may not stand up to as much shooting as say a model 17,but they are sure nice to own,and will certainly become scarcer and more valuable in the future.

Colts were sold already... wish I had gotten the contact info sooner... someone just bought a Colt Diamondback in 22 and one in 38 for a grand total of $600 for the pair. :(
