I am looking to build a wet tumbler, what is the commen size of barrel for the average reloader cleaning approx 300 pistol brass at a time and maybe 200 rifle brass. I'm thinking a 8" tube about 12" long might do it but its really a guess in the dark by looking at all the fantastic homemade tumblers on this site. What do you think?

I made one out of 10" PPE pipe which is actually just a hair over 8" inside diameter and it is 11" long. It will hold 300 30-06 or easily hold 600 9mm. Problem is finding the 8" tube anywhere. In the US it can be bought at the local Home Depot/Lowes etc but up here in Canada it is next to impossible to find and when you do it is very expensive.

What kind of tube are you thinking of using?

Well, my retired father has needs a project and is very handy at finding random parts. I was thinking about using a 8" OD pipe or maybe a s6 if I have to. I would like to keep it a little bigger than that. Do you think that a smaller ID pipe diameter would limit the cleaning ability of the pins? Also, your 8 x 11 pipe, are you using 5lbs of pins? Did you need more pins for something that size?
