What did Bubba do to my M44?!

So I picked up a Polish M44 a while back, and it was clear that Bubba went to town on it, however exactly how much I didn't even realize at first. The stock being painted black is what made it jump out at me in the first place, then I noticed the bayonet/lug had been removed, the front sight post painted hi vis yellow, and who knows what else, but the numbers matched so I didn't think too much of it. Price wasn't too bad, it isn't counterbored and the barrel and action are immaculate, and I'm not going to lie, I think it actually looks really nice painted black. Now that I've been shooting it for a bit I'm noticing play in the action inside the stock, which was needless to say a little surprising. Then it occurs to me, knowing a little more now than I did when I bought it, this stock is NOT from an M44. As near as I can tell it's an M39 style stock of indeterminate origin, as the buttplate has the same number as the rest of the gun, probably off the original stock. Might there be any markings I could look for on the stock to figure out where it's from? Here's a pic of it, with a little extra bubba strapped on for good measure. Maybe somebody can tell me something about it?

Definitely not an M39 stock. Looks to me like an M44 stock (as it has the indent where the bayonet folds in) that has had a pistol grip crudely attached to it. It may be the original stock and you may find some indication of the serial number inside of the stock (after taking the action out).

I hope you got a hell of a cheap price...

If it's been attached, they did one hell of a job, there's literally no hint of a seam whatsoever, and you can see every other scratch on the stock through the paint. I'll have to pull the thing apart and see what it says inside the wood

It might be slightly more refined work from the guy who did this.

Yikes, that Enfield is sacriligious. yeah after taking a closer look in better light I think I can see some wood filler that's been painted over on the bottom of it, gotta say the joints and everything looks good enough that I never even second guessed it <: \
