What did I buy?

At the Chilliwack gun show I picked this up for $280 It's a mauser, it looks like a milsurp mauser. Is it? What is it?

It was correct, too.

These are beautiful rifles and very much underappreciated.

They are one of the last military Mausers to go INTO production.

Yeah, that was fast. Yes it does have 7.92 on the side. So is that standard "8mm mauser" for ammunition? That's good, I'm happy with a Spanish Mauser, it just looked too nice to pass up.
 
I was wondering about that one-the seller had 2 of them, and he wasn't sure what they were either. I was going to make an offer on one of them, but picked up a nice turkish Gewher 88 instead. (to go with my gorgeous Israeli Mauser).:D
 
I went to that show both Saturday and Sunday. A few nice rifles but most of the ones that I was interested in were going a bit high. I saw a very nice mint Polish M44 that was going for $345. The guy wouldn't come down and it was more than I would pay.
I picked up a very nice sportered Enfield for a good price for a buddy but nothing for me.

Hah! you went opposite of me. I looked a Turkish marked commission rifle and then saw the mauser. A lot of nice stuff there but some very high prices. I also like old Winchester Self Loaders and saw a nice 351 (Model 1907 i think) but at $600 it was waaaayyy to much.

I winced at the $700-$850 price tags on some of the #4 Mk1's...I was thinking that I could make a fortune here if people are actually buying them at that price! :stirthepot2:
It was a good weekend for Mausers, my buddy picked up a sweet Brazilian with a matching bayonet for a decent price too.

I was there at close on Sunday and most of that stuff was unsold.

ONE GUY HAD A UN ISSUED HUGARIAN M44 WITH THE ACCESSORIES FOR 300$.

I OFFERED THE GUY THAT WAS SELLING THE SPANISH MAUSERS 250 FOR ONE, BUT HE TOLD ME HE WAS FIRM ON EARLY SATURADY MORNING.

i PICKED UP WITH 3 K98K RIFLES

1. CZECH K98K WITH THE CREST 7.62
2. GERMAN 147 CODE 1940 8MM
3. SWP 45 ISREALI IN 8MM
