:p

I may be bubba but so far I'm really liking this build. I raised the comb with some pieces of foam mattress and I really like the way it feels but I have to say it does look kinda ###. I may have to make something with the fiberglass that I have sitting at home, I don't know.

I plan to use it on pigs in the next couple weeks.:D

just wait till I ruin it with a threaded muzzle brake.

Might as well ground that bayonet lug off. Nice looking sporter otherwise, although the cheek piece is a bit awkward looking. How ergonomic is it?

The cheek piece works really well. It does look rather silly though. I think I'm gonna do something different. I think the best thing to do would have been buy some low profile rings but I'm not gonna do that unless I pick up a good scope to go with them.

Thats awesome buddy
Congratulations for not actually sporterizing your milsurposine...
Let us know how it works out for you.

Here is my conflaguration of sporterdoom.

The bayonet lug still appears to be there Stevo.
If not then I'm off to get my eyes checked tomorrow.

Not on your's RC, on supra's M44. I was wondering if dismounting the spike affected the zero.

Edit: Guys, I know the mounting lug's still there, but he's removed the bayonet. If unfolding it affects the zero (as it does on my M44's), my question is; did removing the spike change the zero.

I never shot it with the bayonet on but without it shot about 5-6" to the left IIRC with the iron sights.

Obviously the scope makes that all moot. I basicly had what I've done all planned out before I baught it. My buddy has over $1500 into his savage and it sucks for anything but prone and bench shooting. I wanna have less then 400 into mine and still be able to kill as many pigs and deer. (he's already starting to get jelous)

You'd most likely find that with the bayonet extended it would be right on. Like you said, the scope makes it easier to zero.

You should have left the bayo on, just in case any of those wild pigs gets in too close.;)

PS: Don't listen to Skippy
He's just jealous. He wanted to do the same - you just beat him to the punch.

Not a chance Riflechair, I couldn't live with myself if I did that to my mosin, it's ugly enough in military configuration. I actually contacted him about buying some parts to remilitarize my own ;)

I guess I'm the only guy who thinks it's as ugly as hell.

I could make up a better looking, handling and shooting hunting rifle for $250 (and have a few times).

That's just my opinion, but you did ask.

It doesn't look awkward or ###, it looks PREGNANT!!!
when she gives birth, can I have one of the gun-puppies?
PP.:p

I can have it shower you with bullets, lol (JK). Tomorrow I'm gonna play with some fiberglass that I have and see If I can make a good cheek piece.

Really though it does feel good and I can get an awesome cheek weld with it, But I don't want those piggies to be laughing at me so I better go for some LCF.

i think the M44 was tested with the bayonet extended no? you should get a different cheek rest. looks kinda goofy. but if it works, whatever :D

I don't get it...303carbine puts a tasteful scopemount on his Yugo Mauser, and you guys were all over him. Somebody alters thier cute little mosin into this horrible abortion and the worst we have to say is "pregnant?!":D X2 to keeping the bayonet on for especially uppity bacons-they don't call bayonets "pigstickers" for nothin;)

I applaud your efforts to make a functional piece you can revert to original configuration, though, supra. If you need a pig hunting companion, PM me. We can see how that baby stacks up to one of my many stock mosins at dropping hogs...

Mosins and pigs

I'm pretty sure a good hunting load in a Mosin will get the job done in a jiffy.
But I thing a heavy bullet of stout design will be better on big feral hogs.
Those are tough critters.
PP.

You can deffinately come pig huntin. I hope to be sighting in the new scope this weekend and goin huntin in the next week or two. I would feel confident to hunt the pigs with my SKS or 870 the mosin would deffinately put em down.
