So i did a trade with a gentleman, liked the rifle, but not sure what it is ...

looks to be a 98 mauser variant, made by CZBrno, and perhaps some impartial israeli stamps.

also has a VERY interestign rear sight. Can anyone tell me what i have? what caliber also?

Is it still in 8mm? You have a BRNO 1945-1950 era receiver mated to a barrel wearing a WW1 era imperial Gew98 Lange-Vizier rear sight and wearing a late-war K98k stock set. Interesting israeli.

No idea if it is in 8mm , may have to do a chamber casting? no other markings to indicate that it was rechambered to 7.62. has lion on top of the receiver

any more pictures i should be taking to help with Id's etc? disassemble it?

clues I see are the larger trigger guard and the Yugo style butt plate. But I don't know any more and how to interpret those clues.

The trigger guard is post war Czech. The buttplate is actually late war German design, produced in an effort to simplify production by eliminating the take down disc in the stock and replacing it with the simple hole through the buttplate. It is most likely a post war Czech or Israeli made part though as they continued to use this style.

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses

no other markings on this gun on the buttplate or anything like that, i did a wax chamber cast and it appears to be 8mm caliber... waiting on some cerrosafe because the wax may have been deformed when removing it from the chamber
