What dies to use (highest precision)

Hi all,

I'm very new to the world of re-loading and I'm slowly gathering all the odds and ends I will need to begin reloading.
I plan on reloading for .223 and .308.

Right now I'm looking for the most precise .308 dies available. My intent is to develop loads for two of my rifles and I do not want the dies to be a variable in the precision equation.

Sorry if this sounds like a noob question but I figured that everyone on CGN has been such a great help to me thus far someone may be able to shoe me in the right direction.

Wilson or Redding Competition would be my 2 top choices.

Wilson dies require an arbor press while the Redding dies will fit in any Lee, RCBS, Redding, Hornady, etc press.
 
Looks like the Redding dies are the ones that I will go with.

Regular run of the mill dies from RCBS, Redding, Hornady, Dillon, etc. should not be confused with competition sets. They arenot the same as typical competition sets offer considerably more precision and also go for quite a bit more money.
Some die sets (like Hornady) are coming out with competition-like adjustable dial-type stems with a regular die body - these won't offer precision beyond a regular die with the exception of the adjustability the stem offers - so buyer beware.

I've been well served by Redding Competition dies in both .308 & .223
 
My 'go to' for quality and support tech services has been RCBS. I've heard good things about Redding etc but the results I've obtained with RCBS aren't shabby. There are top of the line levels in many aspects of equipment available and no one 'silver bullet'. All quality upgrades from the components fired to the quality of the firearm help produce produce positive results.
