What do I have and what is it worth? Enfield ML

I bought 5 guns off of a buddy of mine in order to resell them on CGN.
This is the one gun I know nothing about.

It is an Enfield ML, 58 cal smoothbore.

Can you guys tell me anymore, how much should I ask on the EE and what is it's history?

Condition is decent for an old ML, some minor pitting around the action but has been cleaned up and refinished with some cold blue. The previous owner never fired it but has experience with MLs and said he would have no issues with it at all, everything seems solid. It is missing the ram rod.

It is a Pattern 1853 Enfield probably made for the US Civil War since it lacks British property marks. After these arms were sold as surplus many were smooth bored to use as shot guns.

It doesn't look like it, I looked down the bore, plenty of dust though, how do you clean a ML?
What should I ask for it? Seems to be in good shape.

If its a smooth bore, it sounds like you have a cut down rifle made into a shotgun for the trade.
That happened to a lot of old muzzle loading Enfields many years ago.
Have a Snider that had that done and aside from the fact that its a breech loader, it looks just like yours.

According to Wiki, they converted a lot of 1853s to the Enfield Snider cartridge rifle.

What do you consider dirt cheap? I would still love to go on a bear hunt with you sometime... hint hint. Of course after seeing all of your girlfriend's pics on here, I might be a bit uncomfortable! But I am a photographer!

Why not replace the forestock,use some repro bands a new nipple and put her back to how she was intended to be???

Looks like it could be a fun project!

If you want to clean it, use a phosphor bronze bore brush and a rod and scrub that barrel for a few hours, rince it out dry it oil it then scrub it for a while longer, rince,dry,oil repeat as needed
