What do I have and what's it worth?

I received this as a partial swap,and was wondering what it's worth.
I received it as you see it.
There's a couple part's missing and when you go to #### it it doesn't stay cocked.
It has a 5 digit serial number.

Winchester Model 92 .44-40. Sorry, no real idea what it's worth.

You have a Winchester M1892 chambered in 44 WCF, manufactured in 1894. The receiver looks to be in poor condition, can't see much of the barrel. Has the barrel been shortened to match the stock? Looks like an original mare's leg. With missing loading gate and possibly other parts I'd say it's worth very little but someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks to me like you bought one of the "Like New In Box" rifles off the EE. Only fired 20 times?

It's a pile of parts with no real value other than an action that may be serviceable for a cool little build.
I vote button magazine 22" barrelled 32-20.

A salvageable '92 action would have some value.
Inspect the action closely, and determine if it functional, and would be worth the effort to restore it to use.

It doesn't look like the tangs have been cracked and welded up.
The low numbers make it attractive too.
I bought a receiver for my buddies 25-35 we managed to break
just out of highschool.
I got it for under $50 to build that rifle to normal again.
Snapped the tangs when the saddle slipped and the horse spooked.
The receiver was a 94, not the 92 you have there.
The lever is worth something too.
Heck, stick it up in the EE for $150 with all the pieces and see
what happens.

I am guessing if the guy trading it got $50-$75 value for it , he was happy. It's tough to put a price on it... but in used parts the breech bolt, firing pin, lever, locking bolts have to be worth more than that.

44-40 model 1892 about one hundred fifty bucks. If it functions would be worth more to somebody doing a build. Try posting in the antiques section

I paid well past fifty bucks just for a lower tang and trigger for a Model 92.

You could pull a couple hundred out of it if you parted it out, might take a while to sell all the bits. What length is the barrel? I'm assuming it is chopped as well.

I'm looking to get what I can out of it, do if parting it out will do so I guess that's what I'll do.
