What do I need to start reloading

Before you spend any money on equip., I'd suggest getting a couple of reloading manuals, read them, then spend some time with someone in your area that reloads. See the equip he is using, hopefully he/she will have diff. kinds to try before you buy something that is not suitable.
 
I use the Lee classic loader, cheep and quite effective, I now have one for each calibre that I shoot. I have slowly built up the other equipment as I required it, got a scale, case lenth guages and trimmer, primer pocket reamer, champher tool, funnel and everything else from various sources, friends, kijiji and ebay. A friend has told me that it is time to graduate to a press but I have always been successful finding the Lee classic loaders used at Epps for around $30. It's slow but I get great results and don't think I will ever get a press, but then again, I shoot slow too.
 
A hand primer tool is a good investment no matter if you use a press or not. I had one go off in a Lee Loader due to a cocked primer... you'll only do it once!
 
Lee Loaders are great tools. The only thing to watch with your 30-30 is that these are neck sizers only, so your ammo may not cycle well through just any gun. The lever action chambers can vary quite a bit in size. If you only use it it one rifle, you should be fine. I grew up loading .222 and 7x57 with Lee loaders. Tap the primers in gently, I too blew a Federal large rifle primer one time and it scared the poo right out. Wow is that loud! Stiff safe though, because it is completely contained. Excellent tool for beginners and veterans alike.
