First I have to say my eyes sure aren't what they use to be. One day they are great next day terrible. Cheap scopes I can't see the cross hairs, open sights are good or bad depending on the day, but red dots seem to work fine. Anyway, I was on M14.ca and saw this Mrd red dot sight pocket and wondered if any of you on this forum have any experience with it? I'm not worried about long range shooting as I have guns for that. I just want something for my socom when I'm plinking behind my barn. Thanks for any advice.

If you're vision is 'coming and going'like that, you need to see your regular doctor post haste. He'll send you to an ophthalmologist as a minimum, but it maybe a symptom of something serious.
The only downside to most red dot sights is the size of the dot. A 2 or 3 MOA dot will completely cover the black of a standard 10 yard target. Mind you, 2 or 3 MOA likely won't matter with a carbine. Scopes can have reticle with thicker wires too. More partial to them than red dots myself.
