what do you classify as a 'premium' hunting rifle?

;)One Islander to another, nothing wrong with a healthy difference of opinion. In this instance, while I may not agree with yours, I defend your right to have and express it.

It's one thing to have an opinion, I have many, it's another thing to slather insult rudely on anyone you disagree with, quoting vanisler on page 8 those who disagree with him, including you it seems, are "so ####ing stupid". Not time for that on a forum we come to for enjoyment.

The term "weapon" is a generic term as used by the ignorant media and other unwashed philistines for all firearms. It vilifies and degrades everyday legitimate sporting arms into a negative light and supports the antis in their bias.

Well, all firearms are weapons or can trace their ancestry to weapons so its not at all ignorant to refer to them as such.

Denying that owning personal weapons is completely legitimate for all Canadians hurts us more. It's very similar to when the trap shooters and hunters turned their backs on handgun and black gun shooters, hoping the gun grabbers would "leave them alone" saying that their guns were legitimate sporting arms.

Didn't work too good......

Then how about any of Ruger's classy offerings, the No.1 especially in iron sighted and full stock, the Express, and the RSM (my favourite).

Nice, and a classy calibre. I had and parted with an M-77 in 458WM. The guy I made the deal with is in a local club, still has the rifle and has no intention of selling. What I presently have replacing it is a Model 70 Winchester Super Express, in 458WM. I've posted this info in past but.................. .

And the accuracy isn't too shabby either so I think the replacement is a keeper..

yeh...enough blathering over guns, weapons, etc.

I was just curious to know what people here thought a 'premium' rifle was. I had no set agenda...it was just curiousity.

I am hunting for a new rifle...debating $900 for a Winchester or $1500 for a Kimber or other... ;)

Hey you guys: I don't give a red rat's ass what you call a firearm, which is the reason for the monkeys throwing feces pic... I would say to you Mr. Friendly: If you're a guy that appreciates quality in your things, then 'buy once, cry once'. High quality toys are like good booze - once you experience it, you're soiled for life ;)

Johnn: you make me drool every time you post your fine collection! Let me know when you decide to lighten your herd some day.

:)Thanks guy. Yes, it won't be too many years before I start thinning them out a bit,;)but not quite yet. There's a few that guys have PM'd me and asked if I & when I decide to sell, to give them 1st option. The 'clan' will soon be down one. It looks like I'll be giving my son my Marlin 1895GS in 45-70 in the not too distant future.

And, we'll still have to get a range date set up, possibly late next month. I haven't forgotten:).

Like they say there is now replacement for displacement, once you tasted a high quality rifles, Steyr, Heyms, Swiss Sig, some others may become unused ... JP.

Good point caramel... and it caused me to sell off most of my collection and start again... mind you I kept my premium non-refurbished SKS's, and a couple of utility pieces. Once bitten, you can't go back.

Does premium rifles only refer to bolt actions? Is there such a thing as a premium lever action or semi-automatic rifle?

For lever action, would it be a Browning BLR?

Semi-auto?
