That's quite a statement there. How is you know what I've experienced? I own, have handled, have hunted with many different styles of rifle. Here's another way of thinking about it. I find buying a hunting rifle a lot like buying a pair of boots. I go to a store will quality options, try them all, and then pick the one that fits best. I would never order a pair I've never tried. How does an average person try a premium rifle, HS precision, Nosler etc. for fit. You know how...you order one and then brag how its the best cause its "premium". Like ordering 700 dollar boots from Italy that you've never put your foot in.

How does one just go about ordering these "premium" rifles?

I know what you have experienced based exactly on what you are saying about rifles.

Putting words in my mouth Chuck. I didn't say it was unimportant, however was unnecessary for me with the multitude of firearms I owned over the years. I didn't need a firearm to be custom fitted and probably 95% or more of other hunters either. I guess when 99% is a first shot kill, a custom fitted gun not needed for "me".

Use whatever you like, which you can afford, and which makes you happy. Don't worry about what the internet experts say or think because they don't know much more than you do, even though they appear to be very wise. If you just want a reliable rifle with hunting accuracy then your Savage is a good choice. If you want to hang it on the wall and admire it, or post pictures and brag about it on a forum, then you'll need something more exotic. But do what makes you feel good, and don't worry about the "experts".

I only have one Savage, and while it's a far cry from anything you could classify or define as "Premium",



for an 'inexpensive' rifle, it sure shoots well.

John, It's tme to spend the money on some new floor coverings.

Maybe because the only good use for cheap rifles is bench paper punching at 100 yards from bags and sleds? Real life accuracy is way more affected by how you can shoulder the rifle itself without supports all around it. The experience from premium rifle that fits you is way beyond savage axis despite "all weather durable plastic". Just a thought.

I have several Lee Enfields. The premium one is the ParkerHale No.4 Supreme.

No kidding. But when their rifles can't get it done off the bench they just stand up off hand and that's when they outshine all the guys with savage, ruger, remington, brownings.

When I shouldered what would become my Sauer at the store, I almost regretted it since at the time I had no intention of buying it, I was just curious to see how a $3200 rifle felt. It felt so dam good, the wood looked and felt perfect, the action closed like the door on a Porsche and it fited me so dam well that I bought it! No regrets. Of corse I take it hunting, why else would I buy it? That thing is built to last.

If you have the cash and you love rifles, do your self a favor, get the one that works for you. One life to live...
