What do you consider essential?

for the reasons stated before i use combination trigger locks. i dont wanna risk loosing a key or forgetting it. the key to my range tool box is always on my car key chain aswell. i bring my range box with me, soon to be replaced with range bag cause im almost out of room with it. it has all my cleaning stuff in it, multitool, ive always got a pocket knife on my hip and i use it all the time every day. its got a microfiber cloth inside, a large one, thats come in handy when i had missfire issues with my sks and stripped it on the field, better to put the parts down to clean and inspect them on a blue cloth then on a piece of wood or ground. always gotta have gun cleaner. shooting corrosive ammo through my sks i like to squirt some down the barrel when im done for the day. and the other day i went ti hit the mag release on my r700 and pushed the bolt release instead and dropped that on the ground. so it ended up getting cleaned with spray cleaner. safety glasses, 2 pairs as i often bring a friend. and lots of pairs of ear plugs. also a pair of thin gloves incase it cools down a little and im not done shooting yet. and now my spotting scope, which doesnt fit into the box so i need to find a nice range bag that holds more crap :D

Cool! Looks like you are well prepared. Just a couple of days ago I went and made a checklist of all the essential "must haves" I need to go to the range. And based on what I have read so far on this thread that I started, I now have a very good idea on what's really "essential" for me and what's just "taking up room" in my range bag.

Good stuff fellas! Cheers!

yeah man, so far everything has come in handy. i even keep a few small nails in there and an even smaller multitool incase i need to get into tight places. small nail came in handy when i needed to adjust the front sight on my sks and make a little tool on the spot that gave me some adjustment :D

idk about you guys but my range has two first aid kits in it. ive been through both several times and its filled with all the goodies. gauze, bandages, tourniquets, scissors, quick clot, gloves, tape. even bandaids :D

water is always a must when i travel to other ranges, usually a hat and sunscreen for the summer days. holsters, belt, mags, mag pouch, flashlight. GLOVES are a must i keep some in my car. good for the cold days. couple of garbage bags never hurt to make a quick poncho although ive never done it. a radio or ipod or cellphone with music is nice also. shooting mat.
