what do you do while you reload?

Before kids crank the tunes an enjoy the time alone
Now with kids I get them involved in the fine art of roll me owns lol.
Got them preping brass rite to seating their own.
Now it's quality family time hell even got the wife doin it now haha.
Except for my precision rounds then it's my time again šŸ˜†

I ponder the mysteries of the universe in utter silence............I hate background noise, my hearing is so bad that any unnecessary noise is just an annoyance. I love the silence and the mechanical sounds of the loading equipment..........and that ever present, never ending ringing in my ears..........

I have a TV on the back of the bench.

I do two types of loading.

The high volume stuff on the Dillon is done with the TV on, because all the motions are 100% automatic. I only feed it primed brass, so not much is happening.

If someone comes in to bug me while running the Dillon, and re-cycle the next 2 rounds to make sure nothing happened like a double charge or no charge.

If I am making match ammo on the single stage, or playing with seating depths, etc. I tend to be focused on that and there is probably no music or TV.

It depends. Most things (sizing, priming, case prep, ect ect) I will do with something in the background, like Forgotten Weapons on Youtube (Anyone else drool on the keyboard over the wz.38M?) but when it comes to actually charging the cases, I do them one at a time - weigh charge, load charge, seat bullet. Repeat. This is because I am stuck working on a desk in my living room using a hand press, so I try to keep things as tidy as possible to avoid the potential of spills from random flying balls and crap...

I only reload shotshells on a couple single stages (for now) so I mostly focus on what I'm doing to make it faster. Get a good rhythm going. Distractions slow me down but sometimes I'll have a hockey game in the background and it's worth looking away from the press sometimes.

I let my Dillon run away while I go to the bathroom or fridge. When I get back I add more primers. Case check finished shells, load more primers brass and lead then bugger off and let it run till a sensor stops it.

I hardly find listening to the radio distracting while reloading. You listen to the radio while you drive to work everyday? Most people do. I'd argue that you're morning commute is more dangerous than your reloading session lol. Mine is for sure with the good old 401.

It's your hobby though, do it how you want! The radio is on in my shop whenever I'm in there, whether I'm working on the truck, the bike or reloading.

Nothing...........concentration with attention to detail is paramount for safety. Far to many kabooms and other dangerous sceneries posted on here from not paying attention.

Usually a Comic on netflix or a Tedtalk or audiobook. I actually find it it easier to stay focused when I have something I can casually watch/listen to. Something about being ADHD from what Im told. However wehn Im loading powder for something new I usually have mellow music - Jazz etc playing
