For those who shoot coyotes, what do you do with the corpse? I haven't been out while someone took one down, so I just genuinely don't know. Sorry if it's a newb question.

Use it as bait for more yotes or just leave it in the bush out of sight and nature will take care of it.

Keep the pelt, as you can get a few bucks out of it (enough to replace your spent ammo anyway). Either leave the rest out of sight for nature to do it's thing, or burn/bury it if you want to get fancy.

Depends on who's shooting and why. Some guys I know sells the pelts, others just dump them in the carcass pile.

Usually guys that hunts in area with a "season" and running decoys and calls usually sells them or give them to trappers to sell.

Guys that has year round season and tons of coyotes just shoot them in the yard and throw them in the gut piles on their properties. I once counted 17 coyotes walking through this guy's backyard during dinner. They were all going to the neighbour's property to eat a dead calf that died earlier that day.

So the short answer is depends.

If there is trapper nearby he'll probably pay something for a pelt taken off properly, a bit less if it's still on the carcass, but that saves you work and disposing of the carcass. At worst, he'll give you nothing for it but maybe will be a pal and give you useful info about game in the area and friendly landowners. There's at least one Hutterite colony around here that used to pay a bit for whole dead coyotes to process and sell the pelts, so if you have any of those around it might be worth checking to see if they do, too. Otherwise, as Gunslingr said, the natural process.

17 wow!

Yeah, apparent they guy behind them aren't dumping the dead cows properly so the dogs go wild for them. Bad for the deer and turkey tho.

All walk through the same track in the snow and beelined it over.

1) hand it in the shed/barn/walk in freezer/etc right inside the doorway.
2) don't tell anyone
3) ask wife/girlfriend to get something out of shed/barn/walk in freezer/etc
4) profit
5) run like hell

works against kids as well but they generally start crying and then you have to buy them a toy to get them to stop. Bottom end of the scale is therapy later on in life...

Thanks guys lots of good ideas, and comical ones. I have a local trapper in mind that I'm going to call tonight. Thanks for correcting me on the term 'corpse', I was unsure when I posted it, even googled it to make sure it was spelled right haha. Carcass.....check.

Canada post use to put containers on a post at the end of a rural driveway. They worked great. Unfortunately that isn't the case any more. :)

So these days I skin and get the wifey to brain tan the hide an make slippers for the homeless. I like to bone or debone the carcass if you prefer. Then into the slow cooker with some cajun spices. It looks like pulled pork. I have no idea what it tastes like as I gift it at Christmas to neighbors who have pissed me off during the year, and of course inlaws.
Now if I said here's some coyote meat for you, bone appetit, they wouldn't appreciate it. So I make burritos and chili and vac pack it . put a festive ribbon on the package and voila a perfect hand made thoughtful gift for those special people in your life.:D

"...Enter: my 30-30..." Check the local legalities. You can't shoot just anywhere. A .30-30 will make big holes in the hide too.
