I thought maybe my decapping rod was too low but it looks fine and all the other cases I resized were fine before and after. No sign of the missing portion anywhere it could have possibly gotten. I have serious doubts about the primer cup holding by itself. I would guess it went down range..?

1f PRVI brass.

I've had that happen with PPU brass on more than one occasion.

The first time was a factory loaded round of 7x57.

The other was a PPU, 6.5x55 case that I reloaded.

I had the same experience as you, the missing bits went down the bore.

I cut one of the other cases in half and all looked well.

Then I cut the offending 7x57 case in half.

The base of the failed case was much thinner than the other case.

Almost no metal at bottom of the primer pocket.

Your case appears very similar

I just bought some 7.5x55 ppu brass.
I wonder, do you think you could notice a weaker case, with less web, by weighing them?

No way to see it, other than to cut it.

I should have weighed the case before I cut it to see if it was significantly lighter. Of course it would have been a few grains lighter because of the missing bit.

I would think the offending case is enough lighter that it would be blatantly lighter than the other cases.

I don't use PPU brass if I don't have to. It's good quality for reloading but has all sorts of other issues.

Thanks.
I'm gonna weigh all the ones I have. I don't want a Chunk of brass staying in my barrel waiting for the next projectile coming down the barrel.
