What do you guys/gals think of rifle chamber inserts?

I have a bunch of 32 S&W Long ammo that I can't currently use. So I ordered a 30-06 to 32 ACP/32 S&W Long/32 H&R Mag chamber insert. I can't imagine that it will give me sub-MOA accuracy, but will it potentially damage my Sako 85's chamber?
 
I use the 22 rimfire in 223, 22 hornet with chamber adapters. Results are good but I an not shooting that far. No damage to anything

I have no idea how long the insert would be, but I should think it would do no harm to your chamber and there should be such a minimal difference in dia. from the 32 long to the 308 bore that it wouldn't matter.
If you do shoot the 32 Long do not discard the brass as its becoming hard to find for target shooters ( me ) and if its good you could likely sell it...
 
I have inserts for every gun I own... .223 for .223, .243 for .243, .260 for .260, 7mm-08 for 7mm-08 etc... etc... they all perform flawlessly...
 
My friend used to manufacture inserts for various .30 cal chamberings - .308 Win, .30/06, .300 WM, .300 WBY etc. He made them out of SS and it is basically the same specs as SAAMI brass but chambered for .32 ACP. I have used them in all of the previously mentioned chamberings. I found that 1" groups at 25 yards was about average. So at best you are looking at minute of grouse at 25 yards.

A buddy of mine used to have a 30 carbine/308 adapter and had no issues with it causing problems with rifle chamber. I don't know if he bought it somewhere or had it made for him, but he had a huge amount of 30 carbine and no rifle to shoot it so he got this adapter somewhere and we shot a pile of 30 carbine from several different 308s.

I may just do something like this for myself but I think I would make up 5 of them, because they are such a pain to load and get the pistol case out and then reload..........might just as well use a muzzle stuffer.......but if a guy had a magazine full that's a whole nother matter.

I have no qualms about the slow process. I also like the idea of firing some of my quality hunting rifles with my son, and not worrying about recoil and noise. I'll be sure to post some results.
