what do you guys reckon about this idea

so im thinking about getting a dragunov Tigr .. probably in .308 instead of 54R

this is the standard animal

but i would want to reduce the barrell length to this .. make it a Tigr Carbine ..
would i be crusified for this ?

If you do end up cutting the barrel make sure that you get a decent muzzle brake other wise you'll never know if you hit the broad side of a barn due to the muzzle rise.

Why bother cutting to less then 18"? At that point you would be better with a rifle in 7.62x39, seems like a waste to me.

I would recommend the saiga .308 version 2.1 with the wood furniture and thumbhole stock.

Its not quite like that. A muzzle break is a good idea, but different reasons. The felt recoil (and muzzle rise) only happens once the bullet leaves the barrel. Muzzle breaks do not improve accuracy, they reduce the recoil and the accompanying muzzle rise, allowing quicker and more accurate follow up shots.

im actually not sure the barrel will be less than 18" at that point, might be just on .. and mainly because it looks cool to me . but then again i may not
