what do you hunt in the off season

coyote.wolf and rabbits in winter and bear in spring, the yote and wolf population around here this year is huge so they really need to be exterminated.

Imagine the look on the postman's face when he see's this?

Do you use the pelts or sell them?

For me most of my off season shooting is plinking, punching paper and load testing. No coyotes on the Island, but in addition to things like Crows, there are Wolves. I'm 'looking' at Foxpro callers like the Fx3 & Fx5 along with possibly a JITB decoy and thinking of getting serious about trying for them. Anyone else on the Island thinking of or actually doing anything along this line?

Oh yeah I forgot.

I'm totally addicted to crow hunting in the "off-season" after givign it a real try this year. So starting this spring its gonna be a real bad time to be a crow.:D

We can hunt ducks and geese here until January 18, then there is a month break and goose season opens again Feb. 18 to Mar. 10.

Shoot clays in the off-season and bear is open April 1 to June 15.

Winter is predator hunting/calling time  Around here, that means coyotes, lynx & wolves. Here's one less coyote for the deer to worry about :D

Geez!

Looks like he died a miserable death "lol"

I have never seen a yote OR a wolf up here yet. But damn would I love to!

I think the only thing that is open still when everything else is closed is Hares. I shot one a couple months ago and it is still in the freezer. I never liked the smell of it when I was skinning it "do they taste like they smell when you peel the hide off?" If so, not eating it yuck lol.

Gave it to my brother and told him to make something creative with it but he still hasnt and probably wont.

But hell, if I could find a good recipe and make them actually taste good and I actually enjoy Hares, then for sure I will be hunting them this winter.
