I'm interested in an antique wheelgun, most likely a Colt Thunderer. I want to be able to reload .41 Long Colt for it. I'm new to reloading, but would like to know if it's possible to reload .41 Long Colt and basically how you do it (what dies, etc.).

I believe I got the brass from Buffalo Arms in the States and the 41cal heeled bullets I got a whole lot from a friend out west. You use Starline Long Colt and small handgun primers and of course black powder for the Thunderer. I have a Lee loader and ordered the
41cal dies from Ellwood Epps in Ontario but I just used a handloader and did it the old way, works great for me.

As mentioned...Buffalo Arms are your friends for the oldies, I could provide bullets if you were interested in sponsoring a mold purchase, I have access to a heeled mold for the .44 Colt not the .41 LC. You'll need cases and a set of dies, although there may be some more popular cal. dies that may work, as those for the .41LC are $57 US...brass $53/100.....note that there are 2 diff. lengths of cases...the short ones .93" are for the heeled bullet and the longer ones are for the hollow base bullet...your choice!!

Even though I don't have a 41 LC yet, I would be willing
throw in some cash to buy a mold for Ben. That way we have
better access to boolits. Not sure of the :) quality though ;)

It's not like I'm destitute or any thing.....It's just that you guys keep coming up with weirder and weirder calibers, I just can't keep up.....I got moulds for .416, the .43 mauser, 2 for the .57 Snider, what am i gonna do with 'em?? Why can't everybody just buy a 45/70??

Sorry Ben, didn't mean to make sound like that. I just thought if one or more of us picked one up, left it with you, it would save those of us whom cannot, or haven't got the 'tools' to cast. There is no reason for you to fork out that kind of dough, if only one or two people are using it!
I for one would love to learn, but now is not a good time.

ps Ben hope you have lots of the heavier 458 creedmore and postel boolits!!
I will have an order for you at the end of the month.

LeRoy...I'm just pullin your leg.....and i've got about 6 or 7 diff. creedmore, postell type bullets, I got Paul Jones, Hoch, saeco, Badger,NEI, Paper patch, tapered, you name it!

Ben,

Do you have some molds that you are willing to let go? Ive got a full setup for loading 41LC and have a heeled mold that makes a bullet a little heavy for what Im after.

Sportee...sorry I don't have anything in .41 LC,but could do a sponsorship deal....the only other mould that I have double is a .40 cal 410gr. snover from Lyman at .410" new or used...but this is not for the .41LC. I'd sell the extra Snover though......ben
