what do you prefer? WT or Mule?

My favourite is the grain fed whitetail, but I don't dislike the mulie. I love the whitetail grilled, no spices or sauces.

I love to marinate the mulie steaks and roasts in red wine and splash of balsamic vinegar, then roll it in a dry Cajun spice. The stronger flavor of the mulie goes well with the Cajun and red wine.

I agree with Duncan and Ardent. WT is excellent table fare. With regard to Mule deer, I have found that the earlier in the season you get your buck, the better eating you will have.

the quality in taste is directly related to your bullet placement.
if its a head shot bang flop dead its veal .if its a heart and lung and it runs a 100 ft its adrenalin ( game taste ) bad placement .
both great if the shot is right. if not it pepperoni.

I'm not a meat hunter, however, whitetails usually taste better......... alfalfa fed whitetails is key. As far as hunting which species, no doubt the whitetail buck...............smartest big game in North America!

it factors in, but isn't the deciding factor. I'll take a lung shot 2 yr old and you can have the head shot 8yr old buck in full rut. ;)

I think it depends more on what the deer has been eating.

for the win.

ask a simple question and it gets off topic so fast.
Talking with a bunch of other people, and I started to come to the conclusion that we preferred whitetail over Mulie, but didn't know if it was our taste, and what the rest of the hunters thought.
I guess a good way to start a discussion on turkey would be to ask what people's favorite grouse is. ;)
