What do you think of the STI IPSC

over priced. get an edge and then tweek to your own specs or the aperio if you want the ribbed barrel. Or save a bit more and have Infinity build exactly what you want

I have owned a few STI's in the past and I am wondering if I am the only one that feels that STI's of today are not the same quality as a STI 10 years ago?

Like Madness says, at this level spend a few more bucks and get a SV.

:bsFlag:You can't make a statement like that without some examples to back it up.

OP: Sadly, your question is moot. STI has recently discontinued the USPSA and IPSC Double stack models and will only be building the Legend going forward.

The only differences in the 3 was the marking - the IPSC and USPSA were more $ due to royalty payments back to the organizations for the logos.
I have an IPSC due in now that is already spoken for and I think one last USPSA before it ends.

The Apeiro is the best "Standard Division" gun from STI, but frankly there are only a very small percentage of people that can capitalize on the advantage of tracking the less-moving front sight. The Legend / IPSC / USPSA offer a lighter slide than an Edge; with will translate into a very slightly less recoil pulse - so that's it's advantage.

It's the Internet, since does anything on here require proof? When Chuck Norris and Nikola Tesla wrote the rules for the inter-Web that was rule #2. rule #1 of course was that #### could never be more then 3 clicks away.

I know stisvi1911 understands this but I find there are quite a few people who think the spartan and the Trojan are the same thing. Not realizing that the Spartans are offshored. So they buy it thinking they are getting the same quality as the Texas guns for 60% of the price only to be disappointed. Not a dig on the Spartans, they are a great gun for the price point.

I absolutely can. With just as much integrity for my view point as the STI distributor can for his.

I am just basing it on the guns I've owned and liked both, just incase my handle hasn't made that obvious. I have had several ST's and SV's from as far back as the 90's and yes I know that is not anywhere as long as you have been at it. IMO I just found the SV's out of the factory to just be a bit better then the ST, again just my opinon based on the several of each I have owned. I found the slide to frame fit better, most factory parts to be of superior quality and the triggers (weight, crispness, reset and over all feel) just better. I am in not saying ST's are not a good pistol, if I felt that way I would not have bought any more after my 1st one. Just wondering how others feel about it. It could just be like being a Ford man or a Chevy guy.

As Awesome says now that some models and parts are made off-shore for STI I agree that may have a negative affect on actual and perceived quality. I will say the one thing I don't like about SV is the amount of proprietary parts. Like the interchangable breechface? What's up with that?

All that said if a STI came up for the right price I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I would as before end up spending more money swapping out parts and putting in the ones I prefer. But then again I used to do that with some of the SV's I bought too, but with them it was things like Ice mag wells and mag buttons.
