I fondled a Steyer Prohunter today. I liked some of it's features and questioned some of them as well. This one was a WSM (I won't do that again) but my question is, does anyone have any experience with these rifles? They are a radical departure from the american guns but seem like a quality gun. Alot of polymer parts on them... the glock of rifles I suppose. Please share anything you know about accuracy, quality, features, service ect.

Thanks

Brenden

It's an expensive hunting rifle and its a brand for which accessories are very difficult to find. (I would buy a Sako or a couple of Tikkas for the same price)

Typically, eurorifles have good factory accuracy and it would serve you very well as a hunting rifle. I've not played with their tactical model, but the same suggestion applies.

I had a Model M in 30-06. The stock was made from a product called "cycolac". Don't know if they're still using that, but it was way too flexible for my liking. Closing the bolt on that action was almost orgasmic, very precise. Also very accurate.

I've got a prohunter stainless in .300 win mag and it is very accurate, it feels nice in my hands, points well etc and is incredibly smooth...I'm not sure if the barrels are handlapped but the bore on mine is pretty shiny, overall a nice rifle. Too bad Mcmillan doesn't make a stock for it though and yeah, too bad I don't use it more, too many rifles!!:D

'rifle.
