What do you use for cleaning your brass by hand?

Auqarius Stain Prevent, $9.99, read on the back it contains phosphoric acid, what percentage it doesn't say but it works pretty good.

Do you have to remove the carbon the inside?
 
Just a few squirts of lemon juice, a drop of dish-soap and about a litre or so of hot water. Aggitate the jar a bit, let sit for 20 minutes, rinse again with hot water and let dry overnight on a towel. I clean about 50 casings per go.

I also use 0000 steel wool during the trimming and chamfering process.

I use a Lee lock stud, chucked in a 24v drill. I can trim, chamfer & de-burr, and shine up the case with a quick application of steel wool... and all in one go. I highly recommend the Lee cutter with a large ball attachment. I can do 100 cases per sitting.
 
I tried the phosphoric acid thing, because I too have thousands of 9mm to clean and it did not seem to work very well. The outsides were fine but the primer pockets still had to be done by hand. I think a Thumbler tumbler is on the cards for my Christmas pressie.

You're likely gonna have to invest in a primer pocket brush to get the crud out of the primer pockets. I use the RCBS unit because it came with both sizes of brush. Brushes are under $20 for the RCBS kit.

I noticed my Lee primer pocket cleaner tool does not get the primer pockets that clean either ! I just use the edge of a scotch guard pad (the synthetic steel wool stuff) after and it works ok !
 
My understanding is that pockets don't need to be cleaned unless they are so dirty they're preventing the primers from being fully seated. I give them a quick twist with the tool, nothing more. Arguably, even that is a waste of time.

Tried doing that with the first wife. She just got the bottle and threw it back at me. :mad: Left her and #2 does it like a charm. :D

If anyone wants to know the most efficient way to separate the media from brass after tumbling (especially .223 and .308 rifle brass), try out the RCBS Media Separator. This contraption is a true time saver, easy to use and affordable. Happy shooting!!!!! ;) :ar15:
