So the 20/16/12ga's are overkill? I'll make sure I take that into consideration.

I guess all my bird guns are heading to the EE cause chopperhead says they are all overkill

I love it when people have all the experiance in the world but dont even own thier own firearms yet.

your a moron, now back to highschool for you:rolleyes:

isn't this the guy that sees nothing wrong with firing a 12 gauge beside his unsuspecting friends ear:rolleyes:

is this another death-junky in disguise?

I think they go to the same school :p :D

If I am hunting just for Grouse, the 410 is a great tool.

If big game is also being hunted, my 35 whelan with light charge of Unique and a .358 pistol bullet works great on grouse. For my 30-06, an adapter to shoot 32 acp is very accurate. Then only 1 rifle needs to be carried.

303 Brit with Unique and a 32 cal bullet is good also.

I also shoot a .35 Whelen, I'd love to know what that pistol bullet load is with the alliant. I've got some 158 grain .357 bullets around. How much unique are you using? Is any filler needed?

Chuck

When I have used 12G, I have almost always used an 18" barrel. I have also used my norc 14". Because of the short barrels and the "wide spread" of shot, I prefer using larger shot, such as #2 or 4.

Ya ok Well since you guys cant seem to wrap ur minds around the Idea that because I feel a certain way doesnt mean you have to.. You dont agree with me, fine I dont care but you dont have to all start calling me names and being first class A-holes.

Kinda sad when the 17 yr old kid is the only one showing restarint and maturity.

Kinda' sad when a 17yr old kid is trying to provide advice to grown men (& women.)

Sometimes listening is better than talking.

Back on track (kinda): Does anybody know if/where the new CCI 17HMR FMJ's are available? I think they would be just the ticket for grouse.

I never said hey THIS IS HOW THINGS HAVE TO BE.

I said I think that anything over .410 is overkill. There is no advice there. It's a simple opion that some people seem to not be able to deal with the fact the other can have diffrent opions then you. Just because someone has diffrenciating opions does not mean they are focring anyone to think or believe anything. get over yourself.

I dont give a flying #### what you or anyone else wants to shoot bush chickens with. I dont like to use anything over .410. what is hard to understand about that??

Whether your 17 or 70 when you pass judgement on the guns others use as "overkill" don't be too hurt or dismayed if you get a little judgement passed on your opinion in return.

That's one of those lessons that goes along with maturity. ;)

I dont care what anyone else uses I was only talking about my own prefences. I find 12ga etc etc tobe to much. if you want to use it go for it but i wouldnt use it if i had a choice is all I was saying.

I dont mind people disagreing with me. by all means if you feel diffrently then say something. However it's the manner in which some folks here go about it with the sarcasim and the name calling etc etc that upsets me and just makes me shake my head that growen men feel the need to resort to that cause they dont agree with something.

talking in a nice and respectfull manner works just fine and you'll get a better response and maybe even an explaination as to why someone feels a certain way as aposed to coming out saying "your a Moron" or whathave you. But I dunno maybe im the only one who likes to be treated with alittle respect and not be talked down to. as I assume Nobody likes that then why do you think it's alright to belittle other people for having diffrent opions?

if the chickens in the air, the 410 is a $hitty choice, compared to a 20 or 12 gauge

on the ground, might as well use a 22 :)
